Meerut, June 16 -- A 24-year-old woman has accused five men of abducting and gang-raping her after allegedly making her unconscious in Muzaffarnagar's Charthawal area. Police registered a case on Saturday and launched an intensive investigation, forming three specialized teams to arrest the accused. According to the complaint lodged by the victim, she works alongside her father at a brick kiln in the Charthawal police station jurisdiction. The incident allegedly took place on June 13, when Umar, a resident of Dadhedhu Khurd village who also worked at the kiln, called her. The victim told police that Umar asked her to meet him near a cremation ground, claiming his mother was cutting grass there and needed assistance. Trusting his statement, she went to the location, where she allegedly found five youths waiting on two motorcycles. In her complaint, the woman alleged that Umar forced her to inhale an intoxicating substance from a handkerchief, causing her to lose consciousness. She further claimed that the accused then transported her on a motorcycle to a sugarcane field near the Kachhauli railway bridge. The victim alleged that three of the men, including Umar, sexually assaulted her in the field, while the remaining two stood guard. She stated that after she regained consciousness, the accused prevented her from making any phone calls and abandoned her in a semi-nude condition before fleeing the scene. The woman contacted acquaintances, who helped bring her home. She later approached the Charthawal police station and filed a formal complaint regarding the incident. Based on the complaint, police have registered FIR No. 95/2026 under Sections 70(1), 87, and 123 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Senior superintendent of police, Muzaffarnagar, Sanjay Kumar Verma, said the allegations were being treated with utmost seriousness. He announced that three joint teams comprising the Special Operations Group (SOG), the surveillance unit, and Charthawal police have been constituted to investigate the case and apprehend the accused. "The matter is being thoroughly investigated from all angles. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused at the earliest, and strict legal action will be taken against those found guilty," the SSP said....
