The victim, Naseem alias Talib, was allegedly attacked 17 times on the head and face with a bugda, a heavy chopping weapon, after he confronted accused Asim outside his in-laws' house on Saturday morning. He later died while undergoing treatment at Meerut Medical College.

On Sunday, police intercepted Asim on the Mandwara-Luhsana road.
He allegedly opened fire and was injured in retaliatory firing before being arrested. Police recovered a country-made pistol, cartridges and the alleged murder weapon.
