Meerut, Aug. 10 -- Police in Muzaffarnagar have arrested a woman and her alleged lover for conspiring to murder her husband, a 28-year-old welder from Meerut, in a daylight attack in Budhana. The victim, Naseem alias Talib, was allegedly attacked 17 times on the head and face with a bugda, a heavy chopping weapon, after he confronted accused Asim outside his in-laws' house on Saturday morning. He later died while undergoing treatment at Meerut Medical College. Police said Naseem's wife, Meena, had allegedly developed a relationship with Asim, leading to frequent disputes between the couple. Naseem's brother subsequently lodged an FIR, alleging that Meena had called him to Budhana as part of a conspiracy to kill him. On Sunday, police intercepted Asim on the Mandwara-Luhsana road. He allegedly opened fire and was injured in retaliatory firing before being arrested. Police recovered a country-made pistol, cartridges and the alleged murder weapon. Meena was arrested later from her residence. Further investigation is underway....
