Woman, ex-lover held for killing boyfriend in Saharanpur
MEERUT, March 11 -- Police arrested a woman and her former lover for allegedly murdering the woman's 30-year-old boyfriend nearly five months after his body was found floating in water. The victim, Ashu Chaudhary, was allegedly pushed off a bridge by the two after they made him consume alcohol.
According to police, the incident took place on November 13, 2025, when Ashu, a resident of Makdoom Jahan Sarai in Bada Bagad, Gangoh, was found dead in water near the Ruhada area on Eidgah Road in Saharanpur.
Following a complaint filed by the deceased's brother Sachin, police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. After nearly five months, two accused-Sonu Singh and Ruby, both residents of Makdoom Jahan Sarai in Bada Bagad, Gangoh-were arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder.
SP Rural Sagar Jain said the investigation revealed that Ruby was initially in a relationship with Sonu, a resident of Rangail village. However, after Sonu got married, their meetings became less frequent. During this time, Ruby came into contact with Ashu, who lived in the same locality, and the two developed a relationship.
Later, Ruby and Sonu resumed their relationship, but Ashu had become an obstacle between them. Police said the duo then hatched a plan to eliminate him.
On the night of November 12, 2025, Ruby and Sonu allegedly took Ashu to the Ruhada bridge on Eidgah Road in Nanauta, where they made him consume alcohol. When he became heavily intoxicated, they allegedly pushed him off the bridge into the water below, leading to his drowning. Police also revealed that Ruby is married and her husband works as a daily wage labourer. Further legal proceedings in the case are underway.htc...
