Lucknow, June 8 -- Six years after losing both his legs in a train accident, 22-year-old Raju from Barabanki has regained the ability to walk, thanks to timely intervention by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and rehabilitation support from doctors at King George's Medical University (KGMU). Raju, son of labourer Phoolchandra, lost both legs in a 2018 accident at Ghaghra Ghat railway station and remained dependent on others for mobility. Raju's case reached the CM during a Janata Darbar on January 2, 2026. On the CM's directions, he was referred to KGMU's PMR department. Under Dr Anil Gupta and Dr Aradhana, he received free prosthetic limbs worth nearly Rs.50,000. After over two months' rehabilitation, he walks independently.
