Lucknow, July 19 -- The Janata Dal (United), a Bharatiya Janata Party ally, will contest the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh to pave the way for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's third consecutive term in the state, the party's state president Anoop Singh Patel said while addressing the organisation's state executive committee (Uttar Pradesh) in Lucknow on Saturday. Patel said the number of seats the party will contest will be announced after a review. The meeting was held at the Chaudhary Charan Singh auditorium of the Cooperative Building in Lucknow on Saturday in the presence of Bihar minister Shravan Kumar, who is in charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh. Members of the state executive, district presidents, presidents of various cells, and state office bearers participated in the meeting. The party leaders discussed organisational expansion, upcoming party programmes and the strategy for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In view of the elections, the party will hold a state-level conference in Lucknow after holding meetings at the divisional , district and assembly constituency-levels. JD(U) national executive president Sanjay Jha will attend the state conference. All district and state office bearers will be asked to submit the names of potential and interested candidates that will be reviewed by the party leadership "The Janata Dal (United) will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections with full strength and organisational power and will play a key role in forming the next government in the state," Patel said....
