Bahraich, Oct. 27 -- In a shocking revelation, Bahraich police have uncovered a cold-blooded murder plot in which a woman, along with her lover, killed her husband and attempted to mislead investigators by falsely linking the crime to a land dispute. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, additional superintendent of police (rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari said that one Haseena Begum, wife of Zakir, a resident of Ali Nagar Kala under Khairighat police station, had lodged a complaint on October 25, alleging that her husband had been murdered by her relatives, Asif Ali, Rozan Ali and Nafees, over a property dispute. Based on her complaint, an FIR. Superintendent of police RN Singh formed a joint team of the surveillance cell and Khairighat police to probe the case. During the investigation, the team found inconsistencies in Haseena's statement. Acting on forensic clues, electronic evidence and inputs from informers, police arrested Haseena Begum and her lover Abdul Salam alias Piddi, both residents of the same village. During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime. Police said Haseena and Abdul Salam had been in an illicit relationship for nearly two years, and Zakir's objections to their affair led them to plan his murder. On the night of October 24, when the surroundings were quiet, the accused strangled Zakir with a scarf while he was asleep. They then dragged his body outside and slit his throat under a tin shed to make it appear as a violent assault. To divert suspicion, Haseena filed a false complaint accusing her relatives and attempted to portray the murder as fallout of a land dispute....
