MEERUT, May 1 -- A sudden change in weather on Thursday afternoon brought relief across western Uttar Pradesh as rain, gusty winds and hail in some areas ended days of intense heat and humidity. Several districts, including Meerut, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Shamli and Bijnor, recorded light to moderate rainfall. Residents had been facing scorching sunshine and uncomfortable humidity since morning before dark clouds gathered by afternoon, leading to showers in multiple areas. In Meerut, light rainfall brought down temperatures, while Baghpat reported rain along with hail in some pockets. In Muzaffarnagar, light drizzle accompanied by strong winds was reported, while Saharanpur witnessed light showers and cloudy skies in several areas.
