LUCKNOW, Sept. 1 -- Survivors and neighbours in Lucknow's Behta village area recalled the horror of Sunday's explosion that killed two people and injured five others. According to locals, when the blast took place with a heavy explosion, everyone started running in an almost stampede-like situation before anyone could understand for five minutes what had happened. "It felt like a lightning strike. The roof and a cupboard collapsed on me, and I was trapped underneath," said Zaid Khan, 35, who lived next door to the affected house. Iram, 28, said she had just finished bathing when her house shook violently. "A brick hit my head, and my house walls crumbled. I couldn't make sense of what was happening," she said. Mohammad Sharif, 49, whose son was injured, described the panic that swept through the lanes. "As soon as we heard the blasts, we started searching for our children. One of them was badly hurt," he said. Locals later shared videos online showing thick smoke billowing in the sky, capturing the shock and chaos that engulfed neighbourhood. "Tin sheets from the shed flew almost 20 feet into the air before landing in pieces. Parts of a pressure cooker and cylinders were scattered everywhere," said an eyewitness. People said they heard the blast from far away, and the thick dark cloud of smoke could be seen from kilometres away.
