VARANASI, May 24 -- District magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Saturday ordered the stricter implementation of helmet and seatbelt enforcement drives across the city. The directive was issued following a review meeting on road safety held on Friday at the Collectorate Auditorium. DM Kumar announced the formation of joint teams comprising officials from the administration, traffic police, transport department and PWD to combat traffic congestion and curb road accidents. He also directed officials to immediately take necessary remedial actions at identified accident black spots. The meeting primarily focused on improving traffic management, reducing accidents and raising public awareness. The DM stressed the importance of removing illegal parking and encroachments along roadsides.
