Veterinary doc dies by suicide after being duped of Rs.1.40cr
GORAKHPUR, Aug. 14 -- A 52-year-old veterinary doctor allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the eighth floor of his apartment in a colony under the Gorakhnath police station area Thursday morning. The incident occurred six days after he lodged an FIR alleging that a woman and her associates had cheated him of Rs.1.40 crore.
Circle officer, Gorakhnath, Ravi Kumar Singh said the deceased was posted as a veterinary doctor in a block in neighbouring Maharajganj district. He lived with his wife who is also a veterinary doctor, and their two children at Basant Enclave in Rajendra Nagar.
Police officials said they received information through PRV-112 at around 9:40 am that a person had fallen from the apartment. The man was rushed to nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to police, deceased had lodged an FIR at AIIMS police station on August 5, alleging a Rs.1.40-crore fraud involving a woman holding a PhD, her father (a railway official), her teacher husband and others.
Police have already arrested the woman and her father in connection with the alleged fraud and cheating case and sent them to jail.
CO said the circumstances surrounding the death of the veterinary doctor were being investigated and developments related to the alleged fraud case were also being examined as part of the probe. Police have taken the body into custody and initiated further legal proceedings. The incident has left the doctor's family devastated....
