LUCKNOW, March 26 -- Haryana's Vansh Nandal delivered a stellar performance at the Swarup Agarwal Memorial AITA Men's Prize Money Tennis Tournament on Wednesday, pulling off a major upset in the singles category to advance to the semi-finals. Top seed Mayank Sharma and Vansh Bisht both from Delhi along with Haryana's Arnatya Ohlyan, also secured their spots in the last four. At the SDS Tennis Academy at the La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility, in the singles quarterfinals Nandal defeated second seeded, Tamil Nadu's Mukil Ramanan, in a thrilling match with a score of 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. Displaying great patience in the first set, Vansh outmaneuvered his opponent to clinch the win. In the second set, Mukil leveled the match with a one-sided victory, powered by aggressive play and excellent court coverage. But in the decisive third set, Vansh showcased exceptional serving and precise shot-making to regain control of the match and secure the victory. In another quarterfinal, eighth seeded Haryana's Arnatya Ohlyan defeated his fellow Haryanvi, Upanishad Bhardwaj 6-1, 4-6, 6-0. Ohlyan established an early lead in the first set, relying on fast serves and precise smashes. Upanishad staged a comeback in the second set. In other quarterfinal matches, top seed Mayank Sharma from Delhi defeated Haryana's Sunil Kumar 6-3, 6-4, while Delhi's Vansh Bisht defeated Rajasthan's Amit 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals. The quarterfinal matches in the doubles category also proved to be exciting affairs. In the first match, the pair of Lav Pahal and Jasraj Singh pulled off a major upset, stunning defeating the top seeded duo of Anshuman Singh and Tanishq Jadhav, in a super tie-break with a score of 3-6, 6-4 (12-10). Additionally, the third-seeded pair of Mukil Ramanan and Ricky Chaudhary defeated Saurabh Singh and Upanishad Bhardwaj 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile, Vansh Nandal and Mayank Sharma defeated Parth Patil and Arntya Ohlyan 6-1, 6-4. On the other hand, Sunil Kumar and Eklavya Singh secured a spot in the semi-finals by defeating Amit and Parth Sarathi Sharma 7-5, 6-2. CAL Blue advanced to the semi-finals with their second win, defeating Gorakhpur by 92 runs in the Radhika Singh Memorial State Women's Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday. Saharanpur, on the other hand, defeated CAL Red by 189 runs. Following the conclusion of the league matches, Saharanpur, Kanpur, and Allahabad also advanced to the semi-finals. CAL Blue will face Saharanpur, while Kanpur will face Allahabad. CAL Blue defeated Gorakhpur by 92 runs thanks to the useful bowling of Preesha Gupta (three wickets) and a half-century by Ayushi Srivastava (51). Batting first, CAL Blue scored 167 for 6 in their allotted 25 overs. In reply, Gorakhpur could only manage 75 runs in 22.1 overs....
