Lucknow, May 27 -- Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) has achieved a major milestone under the Green Energy Corridor-II project by commencing the state's first successful evacuation of green power from a solar plant, marking a significant step towards strengthening clean energy infrastructure in the state, officials said. The achievement follows the successful energisation of the 220 kV Kabrai substation on May 22, after which a 70 MW flow of solar power from M/s Sunsure Energy Pvt Ltd was initiated for the first time on May 26. Officials said the development marks a key advancement in the state's transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable power transmission system. Under the Green Energy Corridor-II project, UPPTCL is investing nearly Rs 5,400 crore for the construction of 21 substations and associated transmission lines to evacuate power from upcoming 4,000 MW solar plants in the Bundelkhand region. So far, 10 substations have been successfully energised, while nine others are expected to become operational shortly. MD, UPPTCL, Mayur Maheshwari said the corporation was continuously working to strengthen and modernise the state's transmission network. He said the energisation of substations at Charkhari, Dakor, Bangra, Bamour, Birdha, Jaitpur, Hamirpur, Banda and Madawara would further improve the reliability and strength of the transmission system.
