UTF arrests 1 more in fake arms licence case
Dehradun, July 6 -- Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday arrested another accused in its ongoing crackdown on a fake arms licence syndicate, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 13.
The accused, identified as Palvinder Singh, 46, a resident of Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district, was arrested during a raid in Kashipur.
According to STF officials, Singh allegedly purchased two firearms using two forged arms licences carrying the same licence number.
A .30 bore semi-automatic pistol along with four live cartridges, a .315 bore rifle with four live cartridges, and a fake arms licence were recovered from his possession, officials said.
Senior superintendent of police (STF) Ajai Singh said the investigation into the matter has uncovered serious irregularities in the fake arms licence network, and the evidence suggested that multiple forged licences were created using identical licence numbers to facilitate the purchase of firearms....
