Lucknow, June 9 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the stamps and registration department's functioning should be made more transparent, technology-driven, accountable and citizen-centric in Uttar Pradesh. Referring to issues related to corporate restructuring, mergers, demergers, amalgamations, acquisitions, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs), changes in shareholding patterns, housing cooperative societies and sale agreements under RERA, he said a clear and practical stamp duty framework should be developed for these sectors. The chief minister also asked for development of a standardised valuation system to ensure uniformity and transparency in property valuation."Registry offices are among the government offices that interact directly with the public and, therefore, their functioning should be modern, well-organised and focused on citizen convenience. The need to develop sub-registrar offices in a phased manner on the lines of Passport Seva Kendra," Yogi said, while reviewing the stamp and registration department's functioning. He said the registry offices should align with Uttar Pradesh's rapidly growing economy, increasing investment activities and urbanisation needs. It was noted that approximately 2.4 crore people directly interact with the state's registry offices every year.
