UPSWC seeks action-taken report in Noida bus gang rape case
AGRA, Sept. 2 -- Taking cognizance of the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl on a moving sleeper bus in Noida last month, the UP State Women's Commission (UPSWC) has sought a detailed action-taken report from the Gautam Buddh Nagar police commissioner.
The incident occurred on the rainy night of August 4.
'It is a shocking incident...a letter has been written on Monday to the police commissioner in Gautam Buddh Nagar, asking him to take cognizance of newspaper reports about this incident of gangrape with a minor on a moving sleeper coach bus," stated Babita Chauhan, chairperson, UPSWC on Tuesday.
"We have asked the GB Nagar police to conduct a time-bound, fair and free investigation so as to ensure strictest possible punishment to the accused as per law. Besides, police have been instructed to give topmost priority to the security and pride of the survivor while maintaining confidentiality required in such cases," added Chauhan.
On Monday, Samajwadi Party MLA from Kisni in Mainpuri, Brajesh Katheria, condemned the alleged gang rape and demanded strict action against the accused. htc...
