PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 11 -- A heated debate broke out during a Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) House meeting on Thursday, as corporators raised alarms over severe waterlogging and overflowing sewers across the city, citing gross negligence in maintenance. The members alleged that the Ganga Pollution Control Unit has been unresponsive to complaints. Despite an expenditure of nearly Rs.5 crore, corporators contended that effective cleaning and desilting operations which could have mitigated the city's current waterlogging crisis, have not been carried out. Agitated corporators, including Shivsevak Singh, Ashish Dwivedi, Raju Shukla, Anand Ghildiyal, Vinay Mishra and Neeraj Gupta, demanded accountability and a full account of the unit's recent operations.
