Upgrading healthcare infra with advanced tech is essential: BHU VC
VARANASI, July 1 -- Continuously upgrading healthcare infrastructure with state-of-the-art technology and digital integration is vital to ensuring affordable, accessible and evidence-based healthcare services, said Banaras Hindu University vice-chancellor Professor Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi while speaking in the inaugural ceremony of a comprehensive suite of advanced diagnostic and patient care facilities at the Trauma Centre, IMS-BHU.
He added that such initiatives reinforce the university's commitment to delivering world-class patient care while advancing medical education and research.
The newly inaugurated facilities, developed through the CSR support from ONGC, include a state-of-the-art clinical microbiology laboratory, advanced physiotherapy equipment, modern blood bank analytical systems, and a dedicated postgraduate student study room.
The facility was inaugurated by BHU VC Prof Chaturvedi in the presence of IMS-BHU director Prof SN Sankhwar, dean of the faculty of medicine Prof Sanjay Gupta, ONGC general manager (CSR) Neeraj Bansal, and others.
Prof SN Sankhwar lauded the Trauma Centre's efforts to expand advanced medical services and strengthen emergency and critical care, while Prof Sanjay Gupta said the new facilities would improve diagnostic accuracy, timely clinical decision-making and patient care, particularly for critically ill patients.
Professor-in-charge of the Trauma Centre, Prof Saurabh Singh, said a key highlight of the initiative is its affordability, with diagnostic services being offered at CGHS-approved rates, reducing patients' out-of-pocket expenses by nearly 60% compared with private laboratories.
ONGC general manager (CSR) Neeraj Bansal said the company's CSR support had been effectively utilised to establish high-impact healthcare facilities and appreciated the Trauma Centre's commitment to quality....
