VARANASI, Nov. 1 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress committee President said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi made India a world power, while Acharya Narendra Dev enriched the nation through his visionary thoughts and contributions to education. He said this after paying tribute to three leaders, including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, Acharya Narendra Dev on his birth anniversary, and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary on October 31. Rai offered garlands and floral tributes to their portraits and distributed sweets, notebooks, pens, and other educational materials to children. He said, it is the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the Iron Lady, who strengthened the nation's global stature, was known for her bold decisions, defeated a hostile neighbor, and integrated Sikkim into the Indian Union. Besides, today marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, the first Home Minister, who united India by integrating princely states. Sardar Patel also banned the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), demonstrating that national interest stands above all and that no communal organisation can be greater than the nation itself, he added.
