VARANASI, Aug. 5 -- UP Congress Committee (UPCC) president Ajay Rai on Tuesday said the Chhatron Ki Goonj (Voice of Students) event, scheduled for August 8 at KP Ground in Prayagraj, would give a fresh direction to the student and youth movement in Uttar Pradesh and make history with the participation of lakhs of students and young people. He said the event would mark a significant resolve on issues of education, employment, transparent recruitment processes and the fight against paper leaks, while addressing a press conference in Varanasi on Tuesday. He said the campaign, spearheaded nationwide by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, has grown into a nationwide movement advocating the rights of students and youth. The campaign is set to enter its next and biggest phase with the event at KP Ground in Prayagraj on August 8, he added. He urged Congress workers, the Youth Congress, NSUI, student organisations and young people across the state to gather in large numbers at Prayagraj and take part in the event. Rai attacked the BJP, stating its national president lost at his own booth, exposing the hollowness of the party's "Our booth is the strongest" slogan.
