LUCKNOW, Oct. 31 -- Even though Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has had a set bunch of 'loyalists' in the last many years, this time it has come up with some young faces with bigger responsibilities on their shoulders for at least the new season. If young Sachin Anand Shukla has been elected the new treasurer of the sports richest body in the state, known for his style and good managerial skills, Sanjay Kapoor has been assigned the responsibility of conducting the UPCA's premier event-the UPT20 League for the next season as new chairman, replacing former acting DG Police DS Chauhan. All other changes in the annual general meeting of the UPCA in Kanpur on Thursday were on the expected lines as Nidhipati Singhania was re-elected as president, whereas Ghaziabad Cricket Association's Rakesh Mishra was named new vice-president in place of former Test office Gopal Sharma. Prem Manohar Gupta, one of the oldest loyalists of UPCA as well as its former secretary and current BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, was elected as secretary whereas newly inducted life-member Omer Mustafa Hasan was named joint secretary. In the selection committee, despite UP's poor show in the last domestic season, former Team India bowler Praveen Kumar was reappointed as chairman of the senior committee, which has Rizwan Shamshad, Ashish Winston Zaidi, Mrityunjay Tripathi and Utkarsh Chandra as four other members. Lucknow's Kamal Kant Kanaujia has been named chairman of the junior committee, whereas Brijender Singh, Ranjeet Yadav, Arvind Solanki and Zahid Ali are named among the other four members. Lucknow's Priyanka Shally will chair the women's selection panel along with Kashmira Jain, Shweta Singh, Seema Sinha and Chammta Srivastava. "I want to make the UPT20 League as India's top most state cricket league after the Indian Premier League and I will go my best for this," newly appointed UPT20 League chairman Sanjay Kapoor said after the AGM on Thursday. Others from Lucknow, who have been named in different committees, included Cricket Association Lucknow's chief Navneet Sehgal as chairman of the women's cricket governing council, CAL secretary KM Khan (convener of advisory committee and a member of the grievance redressal districts committee), SP Singh (convener of the umpires committee), Ratnesh Mishra, Abhinav Dixit (both members of the cricket talent committee), and Faisal Alvi (chairman of the differently abled committee)....
