LUCKNOW, Sept. 3 -- A special HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination drive to prevent cervical cancer will be conducted in Uttar Pradesh from September 3 to 17. During this campaign, which will cover all 75 districts of the state, a target has been set to administer the HPV vaccine to approximately 10 lakh eligible adolescent girls in the 14-year age group, said Amit Kumar Ghosh, additional chief secretary (Medical Health and Family Welfare) in a press statement. He said that cervical cancer is one of the serious forms of cancers affecting women, but prevention is possible through HPV vaccination.
