UP STF nabs Navi Mumbai police attack accused in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 15 -- A youth accused of attacking a police team in Navi Mumbai has been arrested from Prayagraj. The joint operation was carried out by the UP STF and Mumbai Police, leading to the arrest of Mohammad Suhail, a resident of Mankhurd Gevadi, Mumbai. He was nabbed in the Mauaima area after police received a tip-off about his presence there, said the UP STF in a press release.
The case relates to an anti-narcotics raid in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, on January 31 during which drug traffickers allegedly attacked policemen with swords, knives and hockey sticks.
They even attempted to crush an officer under the wheels of a motorcycle. A case was registered at Ulwe police station in this regard.
Mumbai Police had learned that Suhail had fled to Uttar Pradesh after the raid. Acting on information shared by the Uttar Pradesh STF, the Lucknow unit tracked him down while he was on his way to meeting an acquaintance in Mauaima.
During interrogation, Suhail confessed to his involvement in drug trafficking and confirmed he had fled Mumbai to avoid arrest. He was produced in court and handed over to Mumbai Police on transit remand. Further investigation will be conducted in Mumbai.

Arvind Singh stopped a car near the intersection leading to Hansi Jaichand village, they recovered a 32-bore revolver, a pistol, four 315-bore pistols, two magazines, and eight cartridges. Police arrested the car occupants including Mohammad Shahbaz, resident of Dhema village in Mandhata, and Anil Mishra of Jetwara Pure Torai. During interrogation, the duo admitted that they had brought the weapons for smuggling. The SP announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for the team that apprehended the arms smugglers.
Police have registered a case against three unidentified assailants after a 16-year-old boy was shot at on the roadside on Friday night, following a complaint filed by his mother. Additional superintendent of police Brijnandan Rai and CO Amarnath Gupta reached the scene soon after the incident and formed four teams to investigate. The injured teenager, Kunal Prajapati, was operated upon in Prayagraj on Saturday, where doctors removed a bullet lodged in his stomach. His condition is now stable.
Kunal, resident of Samaspur Kotwa village, was standing near the Bhairav Baba temple around 10 pm on Friday with his friends Adarsh and Gautam when three masked men on a motorcycle approached him.
