UP sets up taskforces to find real world use in crop planning, AI
Lucknow, Oct. 4 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has constituted state-and district-level task forces to ensure effective use of the Centre's AgriStack digital agriculture platform, focusing on improving farmer services, data integration, agricultural planning and the use of emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning.
According to a government order issued on October 1, the State-Level Task Force (SLTF) will be headed by the chief secretary, while the district-level Task Force (DLTF) will be headed by the respective district magistrate.
The state task force includes senior officials from agriculture, revenue, finance, IT and electronics, horticulture, food processing, cooperative, food and civil supplies, water resources and social welfare departments, besides representatives of NABARD, State Level Bankers' Committee, agriculture universities, NIC, Remote Sensing Centre and other institutions.
At the district level, the task force will include the deputy agriculture director, district horticulture officer, cooperative department, food and supply officials, DPRO, district statistical officer, district informatics officer, and NABARD representative.
The task forces have been mandated to identify priority areas where AgriStack data can be used and prepare specific use cases and project proposals. Key areas identified include integrating farmer registries with land records and crop surveys, improving data quality and interoperability, facilitating access to government schemes and services through verified Farmer IDs, reducing documentation requirements, and enabling targeted distribution of agricultural inputs and crop-specific advisories.
The task forces will also examine applications in precision agriculture, personalised agronomic advisories, crop planning, risk management and insurance, market and logistics planning, e-mandi access, agricultural credit and digital lending based on verified farmer and crop data.
The order also envisages using AgriStack for evidence-based government schemes, better allocation of resources and strengthening agricultural statistics. It specifically calls for exploring the use of AI, weather, climate and other datasets to improve production predictions and market intelligence.
The state nodal officer-AgriStack has been tasked with coordinating data management, timely uploading of data and continuous monitoring.
The task forces have been directed to prepare integrated proposals and upload them on a designated dashboard for the Union agriculture ministry by October 31....
