LUCKNOW, March 7 -- The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to develop a Sarus Circuit in selected wetland areas of Mainpuri and Etawah districts to promote conservation of the state bird and encourage eco-tourism. According to a press statement issued by the state government on Friday, the circuit will cover wetlands in Kirthua, Sahas, Kurra Jarawan, Soj and Saman in Mainpuri district, and Sarsai Nawar and Parauli Ramayan in Etawah district. The initiative aims to protect the Sarus, the state bird, while also promoting tourism in the region. Officials said the project will focus on both conserving the bird and protecting wetlands. The project is also expected to create income opportunities for local communities and encourage people to protect the Sarus and wetland areas.
