UP govt gets Rs.2416-cr revenue boost in April
Lucknow, May 7 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has asked its departments to finalise their action plans to expedite revenue realisation and ensure quality expenditure in 2026-27 even as it collected Rs.2416.42 crore more revenue in April 2026 vis-a-vis the collections made in the same month the previous year.
Briefing the media on Wednesday, minister for finance Suresh Khanna said the state government collected total tax and non-tax revenue of Rs.20,621.21 crore in April 2026 against Rs.18,204.82 crore in the same month in 2025.
He said the government's total revenue earnings of Rs.20,621.24 crore were 74.9% of the target for the same month. These included tax collections of Rs.20,330.97 crore with GST contributing Rs.9783.34 crore and collections from VAT making up the remaining Rs.1108.84 crore. With collections of Rs 5251.02 crore, excise remained the second top revenue earner for the state government. The earnings from stamps and registration and transport were Rs.2870.75 crore and Rs.1317.02 crore respectively. The government's non-tax collections included earnings of Rs 290.27 crore from sub-minerals and mining.
