LUCKNOW, Sept. 19 -- Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party over the PM's birthday celebrations, Uttar Pradesh Congress on Friday said the money spent on Thursday's events could have been used to actually benefit people. "The ruling party could have used this money to provide food and medicine to poor people particularly those facing flood situations in different parts of the country," said UP Congress president Ajay Rai at a press conference here. "Had this money gone to the poor, the benefit would have actually reached the needy. Children were seen collecting oil from used lamps after they burnt out," Rai added.
