UP Cong takes out 'Jai Hind' march
Lucknow, Aug. 10 -- The Uttar Pradesh Congress organised a 'Jai Hind' foot march from Hardoi Main Road to Kakori Martyrs' Memorial on Sunday to mark August Kranti Diwas.
The march was led by State Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam and State president Ajay Rai. Addressing party workers, Rai said Congress workers would continue to struggle to protect the India envisioned by the freedom fighters, the Constitution and democratic values.
Gautam said the history of the Congress was defined by the country's freedom struggle and its reconstruction. He urged party workers to pledge themselves to protecting the unity and integrity of nation. The march culminated at the Kakori Martyrs' Memorial, where Gautam, Rai and other senior leaders and workers paid tributes to the freedom fighters. Floral tributes were offered to Kakori martyrs Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh and Rajendranath Lahiri.
