LUCKNOW, Sept. 9 -- Industrialist and former Rajya Sabha member Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy on Tuesday said Uttar Pradesh had the potential to become the country's leading state in the textile industry and called for greater collaboration between the state government and industry to achieve the goal. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the UP Textile Conclave-2026, Rami Reddy, founder-chairman of the Ramky Group, praised the state's favourable investment climate and said the state had emerged as a key destination offering immense potential for industrial investment and growth. "The state's environment of discipline, effective governance and security instilled confidence among industrialists and encouraged them to invest. Industrialists prefer locations that offer a stable, reliable and secure environment," Rami Reddy said. He said that to make UP the country's leading state in the textile sector, it was essential to formulate a clear vision and action plan suited to local conditions while drawing lessons from the success stories of states such as Tamil Nadu. Rami Reddy said the textile industry centres and parks being developed in and around Lucknow and at four or five other locations across the state represented a significant beginning in this direction.
