VARANASI, April 25 -- Making women self-reliant and facilitating their advancement has consistently been a priority for the Uttar Pradesh government. Those were the views of UP BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary as he reviewed preparations for the women's conference scheduled for April 28, along with UP BJP general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh on Friday, while calling to make the meet at BLW ground, historic, by ensuring large-scale women's participation. Organised by the BJP and Mahila Morcha, the event will see over 50,000 women participating to highlight government initiatives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the conference on April 28. They reviewed preparations for PM Modi's visit and also addressed meetings attended by BJP Mahila Morcha (Women's Wing), district and city unit office-bearers, and elected representatives. UP BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary stated, "Every responsibility is significant; whatever duty one has been assigned must be discharged with complete dedication." Echoing the Prime Minister's sentiments, Chaudhary remarked, "When women are empowered, society becomes empowered; and when society is empowered, the nation becomes strong." Referring to the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' (Women's Reservation Bill), he took aim at the opposition, pointing out that while the Bill was introduced with the objective of providing 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, it could not be passed due to the opposition's stance. He added that there is palpable resentment among women regarding this issue.
