PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 10 -- The Uttar Pradesh Bar Council has lodged an FIR against 26 advocates at Civil Lines police station in Prayagraj, alleging that they obtained enrolment as lawyers using forged educational certificates and marksheets. The complaint was filed by Bar Council Secretary RK Shukla, citing an Allahabad High Court order dated June 3, under which the educational credentials of registered advocates were scrutinised. During the verification process, degrees and marksheets submitted by several advocates were allegedly found to be fake or fraudulently obtained after being cross-checked with the concerned universities.Based on the complaint, Civil Lines police registered a named FIR against 26 advocates and launched an investigation. Police have registered an attempt-to-murder case against seven people, including five named accused, in connection with the shooting of a youth near Jamtali market in Raniganj area of Pratapgarh. Two of the accused have been arrested and the weapon allegedly used in the crime has been recovered, police said on Sunday. Lakshminidhi Yadav alias Bachcha, 30, was shot in the waist by unidentified youths after they intercepted the motorcycle he was riding with his brother Ramdas near a village intersection on Saturday. He was rushed to Prayagraj for treatment and is currently undergoing care. Police launched a search operation soon after the case was registered and arrested two people in this connection. Police recovered a .315-bore country-made pistol believed to have been used in the shooting. The arrested accused were produced before court and sent to jail, while efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining suspects....
