LUCKNOW, Oct. 6 -- Uttar Pradesh has won two national awards for implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), securing the top position in the country for completing the highest number of beneficiary-led houses against sanctioned units. The state also ranked third for the highest percentage of houses grounded against sanctioned units under PMAY-U 2.0. The awards were presented by Union minister of state for housing and urban affairs Tokhan Sahu at a World Habitat Day event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday. SUDA director Mahendra Bahadur Singh received the awards on behalf of Uttar Pradesh at the ceremony. The first award recognises UP's performance under the Beneficiary Led Construction component, based on the number of houses completed against those sanctioned. The second award honours the state's performance under PMAY-U 2.0, based on the percentage of sanctioned houses for which construction has been started. Urban development minister AK Sharma attributed the achievement to continuous monitoring by the urban development department and coordinated efforts by the state urban development agency. htc...
