Lucknow, Sept. 20 -- The first foundational literacy examination for the financial year 2026-27 under the government of India's centrally sponsored scheme, 'ULLAS-Nav Bharat Literacy Programme,' will be conducted across all districts of the state on September 20, 2026. Approximately 5.10 lakh non-literate individuals aged 15 years and above will participate in the examination. Sandeep Singh, the state minister (independent charge) for basic education, stated that the primary objective of the ULLAS-Nav Bharat Literacy Programme is to make non-literate individuals aged 15 and above literate by imparting foundational literacy and numeracy skills. A participation target of 75 percent for women and 25 percent for men has been set under the programme.
