LUCKNOW, July 25 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a statewide inspection of all registered vehicle scrapping facilities (RVSFs) following reports that several centres are not carrying out vehicle scrapping in accordance with the Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021, and state government guidelines. Transport minister Dayashankar Singh directed the transport department to conduct a detailed probe after the government received complaints from various sources regarding irregularities at the facilities. He said strict action would be taken against any centre found violating rules. The transport commissioner has ordered a special inspection of all registered scrapping facilities in the state. Joint inspection teams comprising the regional transport officer (administration) and a motor vehicle inspector have been constituted in every division. Additional transport commissioner (revenue) RK Vishwakarma said the inspection drive will be carried out from July 25 to August 10.
