LUCKNOW, Aug. 4 -- The Uttar Pradesh government will shower flower petals from helicopters on Kanwariyas travelling along major Kanwar routes in seven districts of western UP on August 9 and 10 during the ongoing Shrawan Kanwar Yatra, a government spokesperson said on Monday. The spokesperson said the aerial programme has been finalised and will cover Baghpat, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Meerut on August 9, followed by Ghaziabad, Hapur and Bulandshahr on August 10. The helicopter will depart from Lucknow on August 9 and cover the four districts before halting in Meerut. On August 10, it will resume the programme in Ghaziabad, Hapur and Bulandshahr before returning to Lucknow after completing the flower shower.The helicopter is scheduled to remain airborne for 6 hours and 10 minutes on August 9 and 3 hours and 45 minutes on August 10, totaling 9 hours and 55 minutes of flying time for the two-day aerial campaign.Officials said the state government has been showering flower petals on Kanwariyas during the annual Kanwar Yatra for the past few years....
