U.P's folk, Sufi traditions to shine at Int'l Trade Show
LUCKNOW, Sept. 20 -- Uttar Pradesh's cultural diversity, from Kashi's classical music and Bundelkhand's Rai to Awadh's Sufi traditions and Terai folk arts, will be showcased at the UP International Trade Show from September 25 to 29 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
Organised on the state government's initiative, the five-day event will combine business with cultural performances, giving entrepreneurs, investors and visitors from India and abroad a glimpse of the state's artistic heritage.
The programme will feature classical music, Kathak, folk dances, bhajans and other traditions.
Highlights include Rai dance from Jhansi, Alha singing from Mahoba, Tharu tribal dance from Pilibhit, Bhojpuri folk music, Sufi Night and performances by artists from across Uttar Pradesh.
The September 29 finale will feature a sitar recital by Padma Shri Pt Shivnath Mishra of Varanasi, ghazal by Kamal Khan of Lucknow, Kathak and a choreographed presentation, 'Kathak of India/UP'....
