U'khand to receive heavy rainfall for 4 days: IMD
Mussoorie, Aug. 30 -- India Meteorological Department (IMD) Dehradun Centre has issued an orange alert, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts in the state over the next four days.
On Saturday, the IMD predicted heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and extremely intense spells at isolated places in Dehradun, Uttarkashi and Bageshwar. A yellow alert was also issued for Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Pauri.
The alert continues through Sunday for Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Bageshwar.
Uttarakhand State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) has also issued a high alert for ten districts in Uttarakhand, following a forecast of moderate flash flood risk over the next 24 hours.
According to the statement issued by the state government on Friday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hydromet Division in New Delhi has issued the warning, predicting heavy rainfall in certain areas of the affected districts. The alert is in effect for Almora, Dehradun, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Pauri Garhwal, Nainital, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh districts.
The warning has been sent by Surendra Singh Chauhan, under secretary at the SEOC, to the District Magistrates of the ten districts....
