Two women arrested for killing their mother-in-law
VARANASI, Aug. 18 -- Two women have been arrested for the alleged murder of their mother-in-law in Gidhiya village under the Kon police station area of Sonbhadra district, police said on Saturday.
The victim, Jahuran Khatoon, 65, was found murdered in a field outside the village on August 14. Initially, the victim's elder daughter-in-law, Roza Khatoon, lodged a complaint alleging that unidentified persons were responsible for the murder. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kon police station, said Circle Officer Harsh Pandey.
During the investigation, police found that Jahuran's daughters-in-law, Shayra Khatoon and Shabina Khatoon, who lived in adjacent houses, were allegedly involved in the crime. In the absence of their husbands, a few men were reportedly visiting their homes, which Jahuran strongly objected to.
Enraged by the objections and interference, Shayra and Shabina allegedly assaulted Jahuran and dumped her body in a field to cover up the crime.
