Kanpur, June 24 -- The deaths of two young men from Kanpur in the fire at a Lucknow commercial establishment have left their families grieving and grappling with uncertainty, with one household now facing the loss of its sole breadwinner. Suraj Singh, a resident of Barra, and Sangram Vij were among the 15 young people killed in the blaze. Both worked as 3D artists in the same building where the fire broke out. For Suraj's family, the tragedy has brought not only bereavement but also financial setback. His father died three years ago, and the 26-year-old had since been supporting his mother, Meena Singh, a brother and a sister. "Government assistance should be given so that the family can continue to survive," Meena Singh said, sitting outside her house as relatives and neighbours gathered to offer condolences.
