LUCKNOW, March 28 -- Two men died by suicide in separate incidents reported from the Ghazipur and Kakori areas of the state capital within 24 hours. Preliminary findings in one case pointed to unemployment as a possible factor. According to a police statement, in the Ghazipur police station area, police received information around 5 am on Friday about a man hanging himself near Shivaji Market. A police team rushed to the spot and found that the man had allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan inside his room during the night, according to an official police press release on Friday. Family members had already taken him down and rushed him to Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police then took custody of the body and began inquest proceedings. The body is being sent for postmortem. A preliminary inquiry by police revealed the deceased was previously employed in a private job but was currently unemployed. He is survived by his family, including two daughters. Police added that further legal action is underway. In a separate incident in the Kakori police station area, police received information around 11 pm on Thursday from Mohda village about another case of suicide. Police teams reached the spot and found that a man had locked himself inside a room and hanged himself from a ceiling fan using a cloth, as per an official police department release.
