LAKHIMPUR KHERI, Sept. 15 -- Two minor girls were feared drowned and another was rescued by a local diver after they ventured into the swollen Ghaghra river near Hatwa village on Monday morning, police said. Isanagar station house officer Brijesh Kumar Singh said Flood PAC personnel and an SDRF team had been called in to search for the missing girls. The three girls, identified as Sunita (16), Goldi (10) and Shailendri (11) alongwith some other fellow villagers had gone to the fields along the Ghaghra near their Hatwa village to collect grass and firewood, police said. They later entered into the river to take bath, however, they slipped into deep waters and were swept away by the strong current. Upon hearing their cries, a villager rushed to the spot and managed to rescue Shailendri, however, Sunita and Goldi were carried away in the strong water flow. Dhaurahara sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Rashi Krishna and other revenue officials also visited the spot to review the rescue operation....
