India, Oct. 24 -- Two men accused of shooting a youth outside Doon Hospital earlier this month, were arrested following an encounter with police near Doiwala on Wednesday night. Both sustained bullet injuries in their legs during retaliatory firing by the police team, police officers said. A third accomplice, who managed to flee during the gunfight, was arrested early on Thursday morning after an overnight combing operation, police officers added. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun Ajai Singh said that the three accused, that included Sohail Khan (25), Sanu (23) and Javed (30) , were part of the gang involved in the shooting of 24-year-old Dishant outside Doon Hospital on October 18. The attack was allegedly carried out over a monetary dispute at the behest of two men, Rohan Arya and Vishal Tomar, who had already been arrested earlier. "The accused opened fire on the police team when intercepted during checking near Doiwala. In retaliatory firing done in self-defence, two accused suffered injuries on their legs. A third accomplice, who managed to flee during the gunfight, was arrested early Thursday morning after an overnight combing operation," SSP Singh said. He said information was received through the control room about three suspicious people riding a white scooter with a mud-smeared number plate heading from Chhidarwala towards Laltappad late Wednesday night. "Police teams from Doiwala police station set up barricades and began vehicle checking. When the suspects saw the police barricade, they tried to flee, turning their scooter back towards Chhidarwala and speeding through a forest track near Kali Temple. Police chased them for about 100 metres into the forest, where the accused allegedly opened fire on the team. The police returned fire in self-defence, injuring Sohail Khan and Sanu". The SSP said, police recovered two country-made 315-bore pistols, four live and two empty cartridges, one knife and the scooter used in the crime. "The injured were taken to a hospital for first aid. During interrogation, the accused confessed to having shot Dishaant outside Doon Hospital a few days ago. The attack, they said, was planned by Kavyansh Dhama, who had a financial dispute with the victim. Police said the accused had been hiding in different areas since the incident to evade arrest," he said. The SSP said a fresh case has been registered against the accused at Doiwala police station under Section 109 of BNS (attempt to murder) and Sections 3/25 and 4/25 of the Arms Act for attempting to murder police personnel and possession of illegal weapons....
