Meerut, Sept. 3 -- Two people, including a 26-year-old street vendor and a 65-year-old clothes ironer, were killed after the awning of a shop suddenly collapsed in Gajraula town of Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district on Wednesday afternoon, police said. The deceased were identified as Sher Singh (26), a resident of Mayapuri, and Suresh (65), a resident of Sant Nagar. The two were carrying out their daily work when the concrete awning of a shop suddenly gave way, trapping them underneath. The incident occurred near the old post office in the Basti locality of Prajapati Nagar. According to people at the spot, both men were busy with their work on Wednesday afternoon when the awning suddenly collapsed.
