Two killed as car hits truck on Delhi-Dehradun e-way
MEERUT, Feb. 10 -- Two people were killed after their car rammed into a truck on the under-construction Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Expressway near Kandera village late Sunday night.
The deceased have been identified as Siddharth (22), an LLB student and a resident of Kakaurkalan village, and his cousin Sagar (20), a resident of Badarkha village.
According to station house officer Bachchu Singh, the accident occurred when the car returning from Shamli rammed into the back of a truck near Kandera village. Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the scene, pulled both occupants from the wrecked vehicle, and took them to Baraut Community Health Centre, where Siddharth was declared dead on arrival.
The truck has been seized by the police, and efforts are underway to trace its driver, he said, adding that the families were informed and chose to shift the injured Sagar to a hospital in Delhi for better treatment, but he died on the way.
"Further action will be taken and an FIR will be registered once a written complaint is received," the officer said....
