Meerut, Sept. 23 -- Two friends were killed and another was injured after a tractor allegedly collided head-on with their motorcycle near Surjawali village in the Pahasu police station area of Hapur district on Monday night. The deceased have been identified as Praveen and Gajendra while the third person Sunil was injured in the accident. The tractor driver fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle, and police have launched a search for him. The three men were returning to their village in Bulandshahr district after completing work at Shikarpur tehsil when the accident occurred. According to Bijendra, a resident of Bikupur Ramnagar village under Chhatari police station, his younger brother Gajendra, 30, worked as a daily-wage labourer to support his family. Gajendra had travelled to Shikarpur tehsil on Monday for some work, accompanied by his friends Praveen, 29, and Sunil. After finishing their work, the three friends had dinner and did some shopping before leaving for their village at night. When they reached near Surjawali village in Pahasu, a tractor coming from the opposite direction collided with their motorcycle, leaving all three seriously injured. The tractor driver allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. Passersby informed the police about the accident. A police team reached the spot and took the injured men to Pahasu Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared Praveen dead.Gajendra and Sunil were referred to the district hospital in view of their critical condition. Police informed their families, following which relatives reached the hospital. Gajendra later succumbed to his injuries during treatment late on Monday night. Sunil is currently out of danger, police said.Police seized the tractor from the accident site. However, no complaint had been filed in the case till Tuesday evening. "Two youths travelling on a motorcycle were killed after being hit by a tractor. The bodies were handed over to their families after the postmortem examination.
