Two Japanese tourists missing in Jaipur; search operation launched
Jaipur, Feb. 11 -- Two tourists from Japan who arrived in Jaipur for a trip went missing from a prominent fast-food joint in the city on Saturday night, officials said on Tuesday.
Inspector Moti Lal of Ashok Nagar police station said, "The incident took place on Saturday night following which their taxi driver approached us on Sunday. When we could not trace them in 24 hours, we lodged a report on Monday night."
According to officials, the tourists - Yuma Toyoda (25) and Hibiki Shiba (25) - arrived in Delhi on Friday before travelling to Jaipur on Saturday. "They had been staying at a hotel in the Brahmapuri area, from where they booked a taxi and left to visit a nearby fast-food joint for dinner late on Saturday night. However, they did not return from the restaurant while their taxi waited outside," he said.
At least two hours after they entered the place, the driver went to check on them but could not find them. Police later checked the restaurant's CCTV footage, which revealed that the tourists left the place only five minutes after arriving. They neither ate nor met anyone. htc...
