Two held for Oct 22 firing injuring a youth
lucknow, Oct. 24 -- Thakurganj police here arrested two accused for their alleged involvement in a firing incident that had left a youth critically injured.
The police recovered an illegal country-made pistol and an empty cartridge used in the attack.
While the arrests were made within 24 hours of the incident, two other accused are still at large, said Thakurganj station house officer Omveer Singh Chauhan on Thursday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shahrukh, 19, and Mohammad Safiq alias Failu Lala 22, both residents of Thakurganj.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a police team led by inspector-in-charge Omveer Singh Chauhan arrested Shahrukh from Gulalaghat around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Safiq was caught earlier from near Harinagar Nala.
Raids were underway to nab the remaining absconding accused involved in the case, said a police department press release.
According to the complaint lodged by Basant Lal Verma, the incident occurred on October 22, when four men-Aftab, Shahrukh, Salman, and Lala-allegedly surrounded his son Umesh Verma in Radhagram, Thakurganj, and shot at him in the abdomen with the intention to kill.
The police registered an FIR under sections 109(1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 9/25 of the Arms Act based on the complaint, the press release said.
The police said the arrested accused confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation....
