Lucknow, Sept. 26 -- Two men were arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting and beating to death a 70-year-old woman in Padmini Kheda village under Mohanlalganj police station, a day after three suspects were detained for questioning, police said. The case was registered on September 24 on a complaint alleging that the woman was raped and murdered by the accused while they were under the influence of alcohol. Police identified the arrested men as Rajesh alias Guddu, 30, and Hariram Rawat, 34, both residents of Padmini Kheda. According to police, the two told investigators during questioning that they had been drinking with the woman when an argument broke out. They allegedly assaulted her after she began shouting and she fell on the leg of an iron cot, sustaining fatal injuries. The duo allegedly then moved her body to a dark area behind a house to avoid detection. Police said the arrests were made after examining CCTV footage, technical evidence and through local intelligence.
