Bahraich, July 22 -- The principal of Maharaja Suhel Dev Medical College has suspended six staff members, including two doctors, after the death of a foetus during treatment in the maternity wing. A three-member committee has been constituted to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to hospital officials, the case involves a pregnant woman from Shikandarpur village under Hardi police station limits. Her husband, Amit Kumar, alleged that he admitted her to the maternity ward on Sunday night after she went into labour. He claimed that despite repeated requests, the doctors and nursing staff on duty failed to provide timely medical attention and asked the family to take her outside the ward. As the woman's condition worsened, hospital staff reportedly attempted to shift her to the labour room. However, the foetus died before delivery. The family subsequently staged a protest on the medical college premises, alleging medical negligence. Taking serious note of the allegations, principal Prof. Dr. Sanjay Khatri ordered a preliminary inquiry and suspended six personnel with immediate effect. Those suspended include two doctors, three staff nurses and a ward aide, pending investigation. Prof Khatri said the woman's condition is stable and that she is receiving medical care.
