GORAKHPUR, May 3 -- The deaths of two brothers during treatment at a private hospital, after they were critically injured in a violent clash over feeding a stray dog, triggered a protest and road blockade in Gorakhpur on Saturday. The incident led to tension in a village under the limits of the Ramgarhtal police station. According to police officials, the incident began on April 28 in Manjharia Badgo village under the limits of the Ramgarhtal police station, where a dispute over feeding a stray dog escalated into a violent altercation between two groups. Two brothers, Akshayvar Nishad, 45, and Pappu Nishad, 40, sustained serious injuries in the clash and were admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Atul Kumar Srivastava, station house officer (SHO), said both men died during treatment on Friday.Family members alleged negligence by the hospital, claiming they were not informed on time about one of the deaths and that treatment continued despite the patient's condition. As news of the deaths spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the hospital and mortuary, staging a protest and blocking a road. The agitating family members demanded compensation of Rs.50 lakh for each deceased, free education for their children and security assurances."The situation is under control. The postmortem has been conducted, and further action will be taken based on the report.
