Prayagraj, May 14 -- Police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of former village head Manoj Kumar Hela in Kaushambi district. Officials said the killing was linked to a financial dispute, while other angles, including an alleged illicit relationship, are also being investigated. According to police, Manoj Kumar Hela, a former village head of Alamchandra village under Sandipan Ghat police station limits, was shot multiple times on the morning of May 4 while he was out on a morning walk. Three men on a motorcycle allegedly attacked him and fired several rounds. He suffered four bullet injuries and later died during treatment at SRN Hospital in Prayagraj on May 5. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's son, Suraj Kumar, police registered an FIR against Shahban, son of the current village head, and Sonu. Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapat said police examined CCTV footage and used electronic surveillance during the investigation, which helped identify three suspects.
